This is the view you get when you visit the Pinnawala Elephant orphanage that has many elephants kept under the protection of wildlife authorities.

The magnificent view of an elephant herd bathing in the lake-There are more than 200 elephants in this orphanage today. It was opened in 1975 to protect and help elephants that are lost with the hard difficulty of joining new herds around their areas. Elephants here are brought when they were young.
